Title: MJ playing on only 2 of 4 speakers
Post by: Joe777 on June 01, 2002, 05:02:35 pm
Hello all.  I have a five speaker setup (2 fronts, 2 sides, and a subwoofer) and right now MJ is only playing on the 2 fronts and the subwoofer.  When I play the same MP3 with Windows Media Player, it plays in all the speakers (the right/left front is just duplicated in the right/left side speakers, I think).  My operating system is Windows XP.  Anyone have a clue how to fix MJ to get it to play in all the speakers?  I think it must be a problem with MJ since Windows Media Player plays in all speakers.  Any help would be appreciated.

MJ only plays in stereo.  Anything else must be done through other software.  Windows or the sound card.

Ok... This should help.

1. First, make sure MJ is using the Direct Sound interface. (Settings -> Options -> Playback)
2. Go into the "Sounds" settings in WinXP's Control Panel (Start -> Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices)
3. Under speaker settings, click Advanced and make sure your speaker configuration is set correctly.

This should allow MJ to use multiple speakers. At least that is what I have to do to enable multiple speaker output in MJ...

the same thing ocourred to me with Winamp, what you have to do is:
you installed winXP with the generic drivers from winXp for your soundblaster? you must update to real drivers for the
sounblaster and then choose the output to 4 speakers
