Title: Play Doctor ??
Post by: preproman on May 22, 2011, 11:01:18 am
I have a ten disk CD collection called "Motown Hits"  - Disk 1 through Disk 10.  If I just put "Motown Hits" in the play doctor - It only selects the tracks in Motown Hits Disk 1.  How can I get play doctor to select tracks from all ten disks in the collection?

"Set rules for files that can be included..." sounds like a good bet. ;)

Rick,

I see where the rules should be placed.  However, I have no idea how to set the rules in the correct way.  Is there a wiki or some kind of instructions?

Try creating a playlist, and put all the tracks from your collection in the playlist. Then right-click on the playlist and choose play (as play doctor) .

Name the album to "Motown Hits" for all 10 discs.  This way, Media Center will consider it a single album instead of 10 discrete albums.

Then set the "Disc #" field to 1 through 10 so you can tell them apart.

Is there an explanation somewhere of exactly what Play Doctor does?  Is it just a shortcut to creating a Smartlist?

Matt,

I'm not sure I get what your saying..  "Name the album to "Motown Hits" for all 10 discs"  Where do I do this?  Can you provide screen shots?

Add a new column to your view by right-clicking the view header in the file info pane.

Or, use the Tag section in the Action window.  Add Disc # as a field to be shown if it is not already there.

Select all the tracks from one disc at a time, add the disc #.  When this is done, select all the discs in the multi-disc album and ensure the title is what you want (and does not say "Varies").

OK Cool,

I will try this when I get home.  Thanks MrC...
