Title: Q on "copying" files
Post by: vaterp on May 25, 2011, 04:53:00 pm
So I have a playlist defined with about 30 of my favorite tracks.  They are spread out all over the place, physically on my disk - but I was trying to find an easy way of copying all files in this location into a separate physical folder.  I think I could do this pretty easily if I plugged in a USB stick and told it to copy all the tracks... but I'm curious if I can skip the middle man - and just copy them all directly into a folder on my harddrive....  Is this possible?  Thx.

Just use Library Tools->Rename, Move & Copy Files...

Select Copy, and set the destination directory (Base path and Rule) as you see fit.

Exactly what I was looking for -- thank you. Funny thing is ive used that before to help me organize some music - but never realized I could use it to just copy files - even though it's right there in the title ;)  Thanks again!

you also have..

copy files directly ctrl+c and ctrl+v into your desired folder or "drag and drop"
you can also set up a virual handheld pointing to your local folder just like a usb stick
