Title: cover art missing MC16
Post by: dtune on June 02, 2011, 09:00:36 am
Can anyone tell me why my cover art is missing when I load a backed up library that worked perfectly in MC15 but not MC 16?
Even the load cover art from file or internet also is not working. Every missing cover art (about half of 3000 cds) has the art named as folder with the music file and cover art resides properly in the ID tag. Rebuild Thumbnail also doesn't help.

Suggestions?

Have you checked the Image File field values? Add the Image File column to a list view to see the values in many files at once. Report what you see.

Hmmm all the missing cover art shows "inside file" even though there is a correct image inside the ID tag and there is a jpg named "folder" for each cover art.

When I try to update cover art from file, it temporarily changes then changes right back to "inside file". This happens on my main system.

When I loaded MC16 on my laptop, everything works exactly as it did in MC15 - correctly. All cover art is there.

Hi, If I gave the impression MC 16 is working on my main computer - it is not, and the missing cover art is only one symptom of many.

1. Can't update to newer versions
2. Can't add cover art from internet, file or any other way for those cover art listed as "inside file".
3. Can't import files directly from file tree structure via right click, though all the right click options are there and I can play files without importing.

So I uninstalled  16.0.100 and installed build 16.0.103

All the problems remain as stated above, version 15 continues to run problem free. I have been using MC since version 14, while I'm not an advanced user I know my way around the program.

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

I assume you tried rebooting.

Something at the OS level is wrong.  Try installing as admin.

A "security" program might cause problems like this.

Until you find the source of the problem, it's pointless to try to fix any other probems with MC.

I'm happy to report that I uninstalled and re-installed as administrator which solved all the issues.

Thx

What OS are you on?

With Vista and newer, the installer requires administrative rights via its manifest and UAC so it should be impossible to run the installer without administrative rights.

I'm not sure about XP.

Thanks.
