Title: MC16 duplicating files on sync to laptop
Post by: iEditor on June 02, 2011, 11:53:20 am
I've connected my (windows 7) laptop to my (windows 7) pc through the network.  I added the laptop's music folder as a device in MC16 and synced all my playlists.

The first sync works great and I can import everything on to MC16 on the laptop.  However, each additional sync duplicates every single music file.  The files get added to the laptop renamed with the addition (1), (2), etc.  I've tried erasing the entire library on the laptop and starting again, but the exact same thing happens.

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

PS Tried posting under Media Network but had no suggestions.

Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

This problem is still continuing so I'd be really grateful for any assistance.

Thanks,

Daniel

Just a quick thought for you.

I'm wondering if MC Laptop is affecting the file tags or timestamps, and therefore MC Desktop sees these files are different.

Perform a first-time sync.  From the laptop, examine one of the file's last modified date, size, and even make a copy of it.  Import on MC Laptop, and do you sync as you would have.  Now compare the duplicated file with the original to see if there are differences.

Try having MC Laptop not write any changes to the tags if the above theory holds.

Thanks MrC, but I don't think that can be the problem.

I don't even have to load MC on the laptop for the problem to occur.  I just choose to sync and the files copy.  Then if I choose to sync again (without opening any programs on the laptop or doing anything else on the desktop), immediately it creates duplicates on the laptop.  In other words, it repeats the entire sync just seconds after the first one.

Any other ideas?
