I'm getting pops during CD playback. Since I do not often play CD's I don't know how long this has been going on, but I did not get them with v7.
Intersting(?) details: The CD drive giving me problems is the F: drive, and connected via a analog cable, and there is a CD-RW connected via a digita cable. Playback is set to Digital in MJ. I get pops from both drives.

Creative sound card?

You might want to check to see if unchecking "Use digital playback" helps (you'll find it under Options/Device Settings). If so you can try selecting "use digital playback" but then change the copy mode to "Digital error correcting" or "Digital Secure".

Go to device manager in control panel and double click primary and secondary ide chanel properties, go to advanced settings tab and select DMA if avaliable in transfer mode for both (primary and secondary chanels).

Creative Live (not 5.1), PCI latest drivers
UDMA is working on both CD and CDRW
Will try un-checking digital playback & test some more.
It seems that the clicks and pops might get more frequent the longer a disk plays, but not so much that I'm sure about that.
