Title: MJ working with Mini disc & Sony NetMD
Post by: Ande on May 31, 2002, 07:09:28 am
Are there any plans to have a plug in so I can use my mini - disc. The Sony software sucks, but MJ needs to have the ADTRAC software converter that Sony uses.

I second that request.

I would like MJ to support the MD players, partly because I have one, and mostly because they are important.

That said, we need Sony's cooperation, and for now, they are being cool.  ATRAC is their format.  We can't do it without them.

Telling Sony might help, but don't hold your breath.

Sony is too busy manufacturing CD'S that won't play or encode on a PC.

Sony will learn.  They put out some "secure" players at first, but have now switched to more open players and car CD players.  Their latest has a hard drive (6GB?), rips CD's, and stores them as ATRAC (or MP3?).  It costs about $1500.

I think Sony is a couple years ahead of their competition in getting the new digital dream to work.
