Title: Library field "last played"
Post by: minolotus on June 09, 2011, 02:55:39 pm
I have recently switched from using an external video player to the internal player. As the library field "last played" is not updated when playing files via an external player I used a custom library field which I updated manually. Now I do not need this field anymore and I want to get rid of it but before I would like to copy the data to the "last played" field. But this one has the edit type "clear only"  >:( So, the $64,000 question is if there is a (top secret, nobody is allowed to know) way how I could updated the "last played" field? (Watching all movies again is not an option as my life time is limited  ;D)

Thanks in advance

I don't think so, but you could try using the move/copy fields tool to trick it.  I think this used to work on Clear Only fields, but I think it was "fixed" later.

Unfortunately, that does not work. The "last played" field is missing in the move/copy menu.

What I do not really understand is why the field is determined to clear only? Would it be so bad if the user could manually update the field?

You can use justsomeguy's "Track Year/Genre Lookup for Best of and Compilation albums" Excel Macro for importing MC data to an Excel sheet and exporting it after copy pasting the column values in Excel: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=61935

EDIT

To use the Last Played field you may also need to convert the date values (Excel should be able to do it.): http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=59513.msg404286#msg404286

Great, that worked perfect!  :)

Thank you very much for the solution.
