This has been happening at least since .116 - I'm not sure when it broke, but it was working for years under MC15 and earlier.
When I sync my Rockbox'ed ipod, the Rockbox.m3u playlist (which used to contain all 6000 of my audio files) MC16 generates is 0 bytes long. The Podcast.m3u playlist is generated correctly. I looked through a logfile and didn't see any error messages. If I delete the Podcast.m3u file MC regenerates an empty one, and it has no trouble writing the correct podcast playlist in the same directory, so it doesn't seem to be write permissions or anything - MC16 is just writing an empty file where it used to write kilobytes of playlist.
Any ideas?

I forgot to mention that all the files in the playlist are successfully synced to my rockbox. It's just the playlast that doesn't get written...
-
i'm using .110 and just recently noticed that a few of my playlists are empty. not smartlists, but playlists that i created within MC16.
-
Exactly - it's a standard playlist that's not being generated.
-
This seems like a fairly important, straightforward bug that at least two user are reporting - is there anything else I can do to get it looked at? Provide more information? (I looked at the log file but didn't notice anything.) Post in a different forum? I miss my playlists!

What do you have for the Playlist Path and Playlist Format in Options > Handheld?
Could you send a log from Help > Logging showing a 0 byte playlist write to matt at jriver dot com?
Thanks.

What do you have for the Playlist Path and Playlist Format in Options > Handheld?
Playlist Path: Playlists\ (when I sync two playlists are generated in that location - one is OK, one is 0 bytes)
Playlist Format: M3U (relative paths)
Could you send a log from Help > Logging showing a 0 byte playlist write to matt at jriver dot com?
Will-do.
Thanks!

Thanks for the log.
Are you syncing on a Library Server client, a portable installation, or anything else that is special?
What does the 'Filename' column look like when you look at the Handheld for the 6000 files?
Thanks.

I don't believe so - one library file on this (local) PC - not sharing or doing anything fancy.

B:\Audio\Beatles\Abbey Road\Golden Slumbers.ogg
Everything's in B:\Audio (B:\ is the root of my rockbox drive) where it's been for a while.
Cheers,
Fred

Some more information on my playlist problem.
I have a user-created field called "Current Favorite?" that I mark as "Yes" when a particular song makes my rotation to listen in the car. Then I change it to "No (mm/dd/yyyy)" when I want to phase it out (with the date that I'm phasing it out on).
At some point in the last few versions any song that had anything written in the Current Favorite? field now has nothing written in the Current Favorite? field.

Bump. This is a pretty frustrating bug to have in this sort of program.

Have you tried build 139, from the top of this board?
-
I'm sorry, but I've been unable to reproduce this.
I've added more logging to 16.0.141 (coming later) that will hopefully get us closer. Please send me a new log once the new build is available. I'm matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.

Yep, downloaded it and resynced right before I posted.

Will-do - thanks!

Solved it - problem had nothing to do with MC - something was corrupted in my file system causing the file to be undeleteable. I'd delete it, and it would seem to be deleted until I refreshed the browser. At that point it was back. Reformatted and resyncing now.
And thanks to Matt for the support!
