Congratulations to the MJ development team:
Nikolay, CTO and (going down the hall) Matt, Raymond, JohnT, Gateley, Steve, Shawn, and Yaobing.
Thanks also to Peter for the huge marketing effort, to Lise for the Help files, and to many others who have had a part in this.
[The text below was copied from the LAST bug thread]
This is the end of the bug threads. We are releasing 8.0 today. A big thanks for all your help. We couldn't have done it so well without you.
If you have a problem now, please start a thread. If you think it's our bug, please ask if others can reproduce it.
If you reported something that you need an answer on, please copy and paste it to a new thread.
In about a month, we will do one more maintenance release to get little problems fixed. If anything major comes up, we may do one before that.
Thanks again,
Jim Hillegass
CEO, JRiver

HIP, HIP, HOORAY!!!!!
Congrdulations team, testers, and all support people! I know that an awfull amount of time was involved in reaching this stage. May the team reap the bennifits of such a well developed piece of software.
Now.... Where's the Champane?
-
It's in the fridge (the one we're sending to Zevele). If you can be here by 3:00, there might be some left. After that, the gentlemen are going bowling.
-
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO DEFROST THE FRIDGE BEFORE YOU SEND IT
If not the water may unpaste the stamps and i will have to pay surchage to the post office
How the licence for slide Show? A key or like MJ8?
If a key i want to buy it rigth now, kind of buying you a drink
If like MJ8,will wait until my computer ok[going to hospital sunday for a total check-up]

zevele,
The license for slide show is the same as MJ8. Thanks for the thought.
The stamps aren't a problem, but we're having a hard time finding a mailbox the fridge will fit in. Maybe if we paint it like a mailbox, but they can't get in it, they will just pick it up for repairs.

It's simply the best yet!!
Onword & upword.

Did I luck out or what? Just redid my Hard Drive got everything loaded except MJ. Went and checked out the Forum and what do I find. YEAH! MJ Final Released. Everything loaded like a dream and all seems to be working exceptionally well! (Plug-ins, ASPI drivers, etc. Burned a CD no problems; CDDB worked great) Very STABLE!
GREAT JOB to all of you at MJ and all who tested and reported the bugs.
MJ RULES!!!
Thanks!!!

It's a tough life here today. First we shipped MJ 8.0 and another big release of our network software. Then developers had lunch out. Then champagne at 3:00 (thanks to the several people here who suggested it).
We got Zevele's book out and passed it around for signatures. Next week the bus depot. See the thread called "Book on the Run" for details.
Here's a picture of some of the 3:00 rummies:

Standing (left to right): Shawn, Bob, Phil, Josh
Seated: Dan, Raymond, JimH, JohnT, Matt, Nikolay, John Gateley, Steve, John Norris
(not shown, because he took the picture, Peter Sohal -- thanks, Peter)
They are bowling now.

Happy Day great MJ's crew, the big day is arrived!
I'll be certainly there at 3.00 for champagne glass bringing a lot of spaghetti to cook a big 'amatriciana' for our friends (it couldn't be different), while a friend of mine will play some tipical mandolino songs!
You are advised.
Long life to Media Jukebox and many thanks to you all, in particular to Steve's patience...

You forgot the dog. Name???
Oh yeah, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Hope you get the pictures from the International Space Station downloaded soon.
-
What's the name of the crew member under the table, who looks like he/she started the celebration ahead of you guys?
Congratulations to all of you. Maybe that lonely sailboat will get to see a little more of you now, Jim.

It's Bear, who belongs to Ruthan. World's nicest dog.
It's Peter's glass on the table.
Our old office is across the street. You can just see it.

Maybe That Picture Or Something Like It Could Be Put On The Web Site (With Names) So We Know Who To Blame.

You know how you invision what people look like from the way they communicate.
Well! You guys look just like I invisioned normal, everyday people, who care about what they are doing. Hey! even Bear looks normal too!
Outstanding product!

What happened to the antena and stuff? Are you hiding them for the picture??
Congrads on finishing v8 (although it still has that importing bug with .mov files)
Thanks for the picture!!!!
It's nice to put a face to names. If u guys lived in England I'd be hitting you up for a job.
U look like you'd be a fun lot to work with.

And the forgotten glass on first table in front of the lens?
I supposed it could be of Peter, the photographer...
Your Health!
-
I've been waiting for this day for almost as long as you guys have. Actually that's probably not true, but I have been waiting forever. Thanks so much for the work, it really is the best program out there. Now on to conquering the world in advertising right?
-
Congratulations!!... Now, it's time to take the summer off.

Just in the nick of time for the World Cup!

You released it, I bought it! Thanks for THE BEST media player out there!

Tears of joy are streaming!

The only thing to question is, what is next?

Congrats! Success in a huge mission.
It's a wild feeling, trying to draw that final line in the sand, and saying "it's outta here". You are filled with anxiety(sp?) at releasing a product that has bugs. But as developers and testers, we all know that all software has bugs. Thats where finding the point of diminishing returns produced from more testing is so important. JimH has a tough job in making that call.
But after drawing the line, and shipping, it sure feels great. Kind of like the roller coaster of emotions i would imagine a parent feels in the time leading up to when a kid goes away to college. (Lets just hope that kid doesn't call home in the first week having already run out of money and been expelled from college.)
Anyway, congrats on a great job. I'll drink a beer in your honor while out sailing tonight.
jeez, i sure said a lot of blah blah blah......
cheers
Nesta
