I've got problems with a freshly installed MC16. After starting the program, in some 20 seconds its process (Media Center 16.exe) starts consuming about 40-60% of the CPU power not depending on whether playback is on or not. Also, right after this happens, the program cannot be closed. after an attempt to close, the program window freezes though the music keeps on playing, the mouse pointer turns to hourglass when hovering over the MC window, and the program can only be closed using the Task Manager. Reinstall does not help even with some manual cleaning in the registry, as well as rebooting the computer. The system is 64-bit Win7.

Then if you still have a problem, please use Help > Logging to get a log and email a log to matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.

MC is probably building thumbnails in the background upon autoimport.

Yeah, that could be it. I've seen this get particularly bad with older/slower PCs.
Try turning off Build Thumbnails in the Options -> Library & Folders -> Configure auto-import dialog.

Yes, switching off "building thumbnails" helped. Thanks a lot. I suspected that the problem might be due to autoimport but I had no idea it can take sooo long.
