Title: Tag Nr "32" again.
Post by: Rüdiger on May 30, 2002, 12:05:21 am
I'm verry happy to see that MJ 8 is already in RC-state.

As your program will be finished soon, I wanted to ask you again if it were possible to add a checkbox in "Import Media" so that, when it's enabled, a tag number "32" is taken as "32" and not as zero. Sine I have over 100 "32" I have to correct them every time I import them into MJ on another PC.

If you would add it only as checkbox in "advanced", it will only be optionally, most users can stay with the "32" to zero-conversion, and those that are sure that there files are correctly tagged (they know that 32 is 32, not zero) can enable this checkbox.

PLEASE, ADD THIS before final release.
I can't see any disadvantage for making this optionally available.

cheers
Rüdiger

Rüdiger

Well if byte #29 is checked and it = Null If i remember right

then you can then say this is a id3v1.1 tag, i am not sure if that is true in all cases however.

if so then a checkbox would not be needed.

Sorry, KingSparta, all my files are tagged only with id3v2.3 (using Tag&Rename 2.1 beta3)

@JimH

Mentioned there is already a bugfix-version build 290 out yet.

Possible to add this small checkbox (shouldn't be to much coding) to the next bugfix release (build 291)?

I was often told that this 32=0 is not a bug of MJ, but since all other mp3 players (WINAMP) can handle this correctly, FOR ME IT'S A BUG that should be fixed in a bug-fix release.

Thanks for listening

That's true, but MJ is "almost" perfect, so why decrease quality by staying with such a bug?

JimH, please, should be easy to fix! Just one checkbox and a reg-entry, that's it!

Rüdiger,

Not to be difficult, but do you really have that many track #32's?  I have thousands of files, and maybe one that should really have track # 32.

Anyway, if this is really a hassle, we'll make it optional in the next version of MJ. (8.1 or 9.0)

Thanks.

I know that I've got thousands of tracks with track #0 and only maybe 6 with track #32.

I'd much rather change 6 files to have track #32 than thousands to 0.

Well, I have 44 files tagged "32" (operas)
NO FILES TAGGED "0", as I collect only complete albums,samplers and no single mp3s!

@KingSparta
Yeah, I prefer listening to my music than looking at numbers, that's why I want this feature, if I have a file tagged "32" that gets shown in MJ as "0" it's played at the beginning of, for example, the opera, really BAD!

@Matt
8.1 would be better than 9.0 Next Page
(Just remember the time between 7 & 8)
