Title: YouTube video quality
Post by: jwoodman on July 01, 2011, 04:52:44 pm
Just played YouTube videos for the first time in MC 16. Everything works fine, but is there any way to adjust the video quality? In YT itself, there is the drop-down option to choose from: in MC the video appears to start as soon as it is selected at the lowest resolution, normally 360.

See Options > Services > Youtube.

To find option settings like this, use the search box at the top of the Options window. "YouTube" finds this one—probably faster than you can type "YouTube." ;)

Thanks - I found the option immediately after posting, and thought that would solve the problem. Unfortunately, I've found that videos will only play at a bit-rate of 1mbit/sec or less. If I select any of the higher bit-rates, MC crashes after loading the first screen of the video.

This is a bug. Playback inside player worked in 16.0.111 and has been broken since .116. I've reported it in the 16.0.122 thread.

For now, just choose download and then play. If you ticked the "Keep using this answer" box then hold Ctrl when you click the link in Youtube to get the dialog back.

Thanks for your help, Audun. This worked fine.

It seems updating my AMD/ATI Catalyst drivers to version 11.6 solved this issue.
