Title: Media Jukebox 8.0 and Playback Latency... (TIP)
Post by: Matt on May 29, 2002, 01:38:48 pm
Just wanted to mention that due to several optimizations over the last few builds, Media Jukebox can often run with a lot lower playback latency than it defaults to. (latency is the time it takes for smooth seeks, cross-fades, and DSPs to kick-in -- Options-> Playback-> Advanced-> Performance)

On a 450 PII we have in-house, Direct Sound playback runs fine even at the most responsive setting. (.1 seconds in the latest build)

Ideally, you want the latency as low as possible.  You'll know when it's too low because you'll get skips, cracks, or pauses in the sound.

Anyway, you may get better performance if you play around a bit.  Thanks.

I assume you mean "Options-> Playback-> Settings-> Performance"? Or am I missing an 'Advanced' tab somewhere?
