Title: Are there any advanced tagging options in MC?
Post by: flac.rules on July 07, 2011, 05:18:02 pm
I need to change my tags from id3v2.3 to id3v2.4, i also need to copy one field to another, and use the folder name to tag some files. Do MC have options to do stuff like this?

You can set options for mp3 via Plug-in Manager->Input.  See attached image.  mp3 id3v2.4 tags are supported.  See

Use Tools->Library Tools->Move / Copy Fields to move or copy fields around.  There are other ways - perhaps you can describe in more detail what you need.

Using the powerful expression language, you can pull folder path components and have them populate database fields and hence tags.

Library Tools > Fill Properties From Filename...

That will let you assign tag values based on filename and or path.

Hmm, doesn't seem like the features does quite what Im looking for. What i want to do is:

Convert from Id3v2.3 to 2.4 without changing any tags.
- Convert back again to 2.3
- Copy Genre from id3v2 to id3v1.
- Get only year from the file path, leave other tags unchanged.
- Evnetually copy from TDRC to TYER, and delete TDRC.
