Since i donwloaded the new ver..MC seems to have erased some albums and artists and wont import anything that ive ripped in the last few days...help please?
-
I have cleared the library and re imported several times now even after a complete reboot of the computer( windows 7)...and still wont import anything ive recently ripped even thought i have checked and the files are all there on the hard drive..when i click on them they have a windows media player icon but wont play iin wmp...jriver isnt even finding them ..
-
I stand corrected they are playing with a click in windows media player
-
I have tried to do this on both my client and server machine and niether are finding all the albums all in the same folder..help!
-
ok ive even tried to import from a single folder pointing it to a folder which it would not import and MC wont import even then!
-
MC maintains a list of items you delete, so that it won't automatically re-import said items. When you delete items, they get added to a Removed database. You'll need to clear items from this database to import.
Try again importing a single folder, making sure that the "Ignore files previous removed from library" is *not* checked.
You can see the list of files in the Removed database; Create a playlist, and set the Modifier to Limit Database to Removed.
-
i hve left that box unchecked to no avail..what else can i do..
-
Do you have the file association set for that file type?
Tools > Options > File Types
and check under the Audio section for the type of file (eg. mp3, flac, wma). Set the File Association to Yes, for all the file types you want MC to use.
-
did all that plus a complete unisntall reboot to no avail..i have about 900 albums ripped and it is not picking up most of what i ripped in the last few days..i did swap out a router in that time but made no other changes when i noticed that a bunch of albums were not getting imported..totally lost now..
-
ok weird anomoly. mc has inported all the flac files but none of the wave files... also i had 90% of these files ripped as wav have no idea how they got converted..to flac. the files which are wave are not importing .. is this due to tagging.. i saved all album art and listed that in auto import as well.
-
i have associated all file type including wav yet prior ro and after the reinstall i have not been able to import any wav files which consits of over 700 albums ..please helpo
-
By design all meta information is written in the library and in the audio file (tags)
WAV is an exception to this rule.
By default it is not tagged.
Check if you have 1 album “Unassigned” containing all the WAVs
In Audio you probably have a Tree called Files.
Expand it to a location where you have a WAV file
-
Good call there is an unassigned album with all the wavs,,,but in options under audio i dont see the sabilty to set MC they way you suggest
-
Well my file structure is simple on my NAs i have a music folder with all my albums in it...wihc includes all wav and facl albums...MC is finding all the flac but has placed as you state all the wav fiels in one unassigned album...i have set the file folder to look for all my albums in that folder not sure how else i should do it...to get the wav albums to assimlate correctly again inside MC
-
Ok i have deleted the unassigned albium and tried to import again and mc is imply putting all the wav files in this one iunassigned album agin...1) dont know why this started everything seem to be fine till i Dl the new version and then 2) have no idea to correct this..certainly ripping 800 albums again is OUT OF THE QUESTION>>>
-
As all WAVs appear as unassigned, they are not tagged.
You can import them as many times as you want but due to the lag of tags MC is unable to detect Album, Artists, etc simply because there are no tags in the audio file.
The first thing I recommend to do is or enable the tagging of WAV as per http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/WAV_%26_AIFF_Tagging
or convert the WAVs to a format that does support tagging like FLAC.
As there is no standard for tagging WAV, I do think converting to FLAC and ripping straight to FLAC in the future is your best bet.
If the file structure allows you to select an album you might try
Tools > Library Tools > Lookup track info from online database
My experience with this MC option is that it doesn’t work most of the time.
Maybe you have more luck
If the WAV files have meaningful names you might try
Tools > Library Tools > Fill properties from File name.
If you convert to FLAC you might try MP3Tag.
This requires manually typing the album name for each album.
As MP3Tag uses various internet sources and you are able to tailor your search and get a pick list, this tops the very limited “Lookup track info from online database” option.
If you happen to have the old library you might try rolling back to the old version.
Enable the tagging of WAV and write the tags into the audio.

Vince almost thru the ripping priocess of over 1000 albums...MC did inport everyhitng correctly until i did the upgrade?..will try some of the steps you state but this now has become very frustrating...wheew will be back to oyu ..is there a phone i can reach you on...th

Did you do this?
-
have an old version on my client side which isnt totally updated..but when i try to import or play there i am gettign erro that says check fiel out put maybe blcocked by accsess control...whew you need a phd in MC16 to navigate all these uances...
-
Jim i just did it to no avail...MC is importing again into a unassigned album as before..almost 8000 files...have no idea what happened since everyting was going fine and i was lsomt done ripping over 1000 albums ...
-
if anyone would like to talk me thru this by phone i would happily pay a fee by pay pal if we cna fix this..ive spent way too much time already
-
ok converted one album to flac and it imported but it absent album art....also i do want to eventually play back in wav format as i have a high end dac which i think wav will be beter suited for.To do that by hand again foir over 1000 albums will not happen..lol
-
FLAC is decoded to PCM/WAV during playback, so it's bit-identical. I would recommend converting everything to FLAC in MC and then running "Get Cover Art from Internet."
-
zugisland16, I think we've been going down the wrong track due to confusing the term "importing" versus "organized by tags". It sounds like the albums are *importing*.
If the wav files previous *had* tags, and the files are *importing* but not being organized by tags, this may be due to a wav bug that was just fixed. The update (>= version .127) should be out shortly.
Just an observation... thrashing and trying random modifications without understanding the nature of the problem often leads to random, undesired results.

I don't have knowledge about when the next build of MC16 will be pushed to the update channel (and hence the MC16 board). MC updates tend to be quick, so hang in there for a few more days. Let's hope it resolves your issues.
This latest MC16 thread will give you some idea about the pace of updates:
