Hello, I use windows 7 32 bit and MC 16.0.136
For all my video files, the dimensions/height/width fields are empty.
Bitrate, bit depth, sample rate and compression fields look ok.
All files play ok.
Windows explorer shows me the correct frame height/width/thumbnail.
If I do 'update library from tags' that makes no difference.
Any ideas what I can do ?

Could you provide a small sample video?
Thanks.

Hi Matt,
examples sent via private message...
Marcel

Thanks for the files.
When I import these files, the dimensions are empty. Then once the files are thumbnailed (from looking at them in a list, etc.) the dimensions get filled in.
Do you see the same?
-
no, they stay empty all the time
also when I select 'update library from tags'
note that you say thumbnailed.
I only see the cover from folder.jpg
Do you mean something else ? (like a thumbnail made from movie frame)

Good detective work. The issue is the 'Folder.jpg' file.
We fill in the dimensions when we thumbnail by playing the video a little bit. This is done at thumbnail time instead of import time because we don't want to run the playback graph when importing. But since you have a Folder.jpg, we never thumbnail the actual movie.
We're thinking about how to improve this.

ok, thanks Matt

Yaobing (of JRiver) changed this for 16.0.138 (available later this week):
Changed: Video width and height are filled in during import time, with expectation that more accurate values may be found later at thumbnailing time. Previously we only fill in the values at thumbnailing time.
Thanks for your help.
-
Will we have to reimport these files, or will there be another way to get the values?

Select the files and do an "Update library (from tags)".
-
Thanks... Sounds good.

This should be fixed now:

yes thanks,
all my mkv & ts files now show dimensions, after updating library from tags.
I only have a few 1920x1080 wmv files that still show empty dimensions. in explorer they show the correct dimensions :

I don't have small samples of these files (the files are 3.6GB each)

Does the same also apply to duration which sometimes does show up empty?

No. Duration is always read during import time, not delayed until thumbnailing. If it does not show up, the DirectShow graph probably failed somewhere. Sometimes you just need to do Update library (from tags).

In addition to my above comment about wmv files, I also found that DVD's (ripped by MC) don't show dimensions.
Thanks,
Marcel
