Title: Weird DirectX Plug-in problem
Post by: Mastiff on July 24, 2011, 06:01:00 pm
I have this on one computer only, and only on version 16, version 14 on the same computer doesn't have the problem: Simply activating the DirectX plug-in (with or without any DirectX plug-ins loaded) will create a strange "chk-chk-chk-chk" noice in the music/sound. I tried to install the latest version of 16, and nothing changed. Any idea what this can be?

Do you mean the legacy DirectX Host plugin?

MC 15 and 16 (and maybe earlier) have native DirectX DSP support so you should uninstall the DirectX Host plugin.

Yeah, that one. I still use the legacy plug-in (successfully on several computers in the house, this is the first time I have any problems at all) because for some reason or the other the native support doesn't show the presets of the one external DiretcX plug-in I use. The audio problem is on this computer only, though.

I have attached two screen shots so you can see why I need to use the legacy version. As you can see the legacy version shows the presets, while the built-in one has a smaller window without the presets.

The legacy plugin isn't supported any longer.

The list on the left is for stacking plugins, but this duplicates the list of plugins in DSP Studio that already allows stacking and ordering.

If there's some feature you need from native support, you could post it as a feature request.  I would expect settings to save between runs now, although it might depend on the particular DSP plugin.

Actually I mean the preset that's above the slider window. It's a list box that opens with a list of presets. I asked about this when you first started with the built-in support for DirectX plug-ins, but it never came to anything. :(

OK, I found out why I had this problem on one computer only: It had a later version of MC16. Something is changed during the latter builds that makes the DirectX Legacy plug-in distort the sound, and running the RGC plug-in directly only gives me "wrong format" and no change. And I still use 44100 format. Any idea what this can be?

Could you email me a copy of the plugin so I could test it here?  I'm matt at jriver dot com.

Thanks.
