Title: Media Centre 16 crashing
Post by: sugs-uk on August 07, 2011, 06:32:03 am
Any suggestions?
MC16 is crashing constantly (Version 16.0.45).
I have tried to uninstall but receive an error message:
'Run dll - there was a problem starting ... \jrmediauninstall.dll'
There are no new updates and I cant uninstall. What to do next?

I don't know if updating can help with your crash problem, but 16.0.45 may be too old to work with the redesigned automatic update system.

Download and install the stable build, 16.0.128, from here: http://www.jriver.com/download.html
... or the latest public build, 16.0.145, from here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=65647

In general, the latest builds are not necessarily unstable. However, the official stable build has been tested for a longer time. Eventually one of the newer builds will replace it.

In the current MC builds you can select the automatic update mode: Options > Startup > Update Channels... (stable or latest).

I just checked the old release threads and it seems that 16.0.45 was never released publicly (I found only 43 and 49) so perhaps you meant to write 16.0.145 and are already using the latest build.

You can download the 16.0.145 installer manually and install it on top of your current installation. I don't know if that would fix anything, but obviously something is not working correctly, is not correctly installed, or is somehow corrupted because the uninstaller does not work.

Could your describe the crashes in detail? What are you doing when it crashes, is a specific file format or program feature apparently causing crashes, etc ...

Many thanks you are right it is 16.0.145.
The crashes occur when trying to rip a dvd.
