DVD playback is broken for me since updating to 16.0.149
I just get audio, but no video when I try to play a DVD from my NAS. It does not matter if I use RO Standard or RO HQ. Once out of 20 tries, video will be displayed correctly.
DVD's are PAL 50Hz videos.
I have the same problem on three different systems, using ATI Radeon 5800 series, Nvidia ION and Nvidia GT425M. DVD playback worked on all three systems with 16.0.145 and rolling back to this version fixes the problem.
I saw the same issue using the JRPlayer.dll posted by Matt in this thread
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=65653.0
I have had problems with DVD playback ever since this change in 16.0.142
16.0.142 (7/28/2011)
1. Changed: Revised threading used by video playback engine, with the goal of improving video startup time and solving madVR hangs / stalls.
2. NEW: Television recording option to specify the max number of episodes to keep for a particular subscription.
3. Internal: Merging of video and DVD playback engines (still a work in progress, DVD playback may be problematic for a few builds).

Could you play a DVD, right-click the display, and copy the graph information here?
Thanks.

Does resizing the display cause the picture to jump in?
Could you page through the on-screen display (up & down, then left & right) and try different zooms, scrolls, and aspect ratios?
Thanks.
-
Yes it does. Changing the Aspect Ratio to a fixed ratio and back to the source ratio again, makes the video appear.

Does it then work if you stop and play again, or will it be broken each play until you switch and switch back?
-
It is broken on each play until I switch and switch back and it does not matter if I choose Resume or Start from the beginning.
-
I'm getting exactly the same issue - no picture on DVDs until I select an aspect ratio during playback.
-
Are you using Red October Std?
-
RO HQ
-
Please try ROSTA.
-
Using ROSTA or ROHQ gives the same black screen with audio only, until the aspect ratio is changed.

Could someone with this problem send a log (Help > Logging) showing playback start with a black screen to matt at jriver dot com?
Thanks.

I had the same problem with this update.
After trying everything I could think of, I saved my library, did an un-install and and then re-installed 149 directly without upgrade and it now works fine.

Log sent.
