Title: MC16 crashes with APPCRASH W7 32 bit
Post by: cliff forrest on August 11, 2011, 10:53:57 am
Even after a fresh W7 Prof 32-bit install on a new HD. Nothing else installed except drivers.

PC (modern Gigabyte I5 4Gb ram) is on a Server 2008 domain (home!)

As soon as I select "Images" or "Video" from the LHS menu, it crashes, so I cannot proceed.

Error text is:

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:   APPCRASH
  Application Name:   Media Center 16.exe
  Application Version:   16.0.128.0
  Application Timestamp:   4e176fa9
Fault Module Name:   Media Center 16.exe
  Fault Module Version:   16.0.128.0
  Fault Module Timestamp:   4e176fa9
  Exception Code:   c0000005
  Exception Offset:   005754e1
  OS Version:   6.1.7600.2.0.0.256.48

I am pretty PC literate, but not sure what else you will need to know, or how to debug this.  Not used JR before ....

Googling APPCRASH gives zillions of confusing stuff!

Is it the same as this problem?

No antivirus yet installed.
Has internet connection.
Only installed W7 3 hours ago, so has not yet autoupdated.

However, it crashed in the same way when I first installed it on a fully mature and loaded W7 installation, which is why I started from scratch.

No, not the saome AFAICS:  MB does not have on-board graphics. Using PCI-e RADEON card with Radeon drivers.

I have just tried installing MC16 on a new HP 4520 laptop. Intel I3, 4Gb W7 32bit

This time it crashes in StackHash_0a9e, under the same circumstances.

I know so many things interact in a PC environment, but this doesn't look good.

Can I still try MC15 ??

Something isn't right.  Did you get the file from our servers?

Try build 149 from the top of the MC16 board.

I just did a google search for JrRiver download.

Meanwhile I have  downloaded MC15 and that runs.

The crash data says my version is 16.0.128.0

I'll look for 149.
