My HTPC system was working fine.....Then I accidently let Windows Update install a new video driver that it found. I must have been asleep at the wheel to let that go but anyway on to the problems. I had to uninstall the drivers for my ATI Radeon 4350 and then downloaded the correct ones from the ATI website. The reason I even noticed it was that the screen images would not cover the whole screen. After reconfiguring the overscan in CCC it was now back to normal or so I thought. I went to play a video and I didn't have any sound. I realized I probably had to reassign the zone using the HDMI for audio in MC which I did. It plays audio just fine in WASAPI mode. It will not play audio tracks from movies or videos however. I can change to direct sound and then I get audio back. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Check the Windows mixer volume controls.
