I've downloaded a WMV file from BBC IPlayer.
If I play this through Windows Media Player it works fine.
If I play it through MC I get a message:
Something went wrong with playback
Details: Unable to aquire DRM Media rights. (hr=0xc00d2759)

Could you share a URL?
I have seen some WMV files made with ffmpeg that only sort of work in different players. WMP can sometimes play them, but Media Center and a lot of other programs don't like them.

I can try. I'm not sure if it will work outside of the UK however:

I'm aware when I was over the in the states last year a lot of BBC content was unavailable to me.
Saying that this particular download was recorded by BBC America, so you never know!

That's a DRM protected WMV file.
I don't think silent license acquisition for WMV DRM is working currently with Red October. It's on our to-do list.
I did find a bug, which will be fixed next build:
Fixed: Trying to play a DRM protected WMV video with no rights could cause a crash.

I get the same issue with WMV video files downloaded from Canalplay.com here in France.
I'm using latest build of MC (16.0.173)

I am still getting this. I get message saying trying to acquire rights and then the same message as the OP

I get this also for BBC iPlayer wmv files. They play fine in Windows media player.
Any update on a fix for the DRM issue?
