MC can convert to MP3 VBR, for example, when it's transferred.  Explore the options.

MC won't support newer iPods.  Apple locked them.

JimH, this is bad really news.

I'm waiting for the new iPod to be introduced this month. That is the one I want to buy, I need another one with more GB's.

Is it that you are already referring to that new iPod

New iPods and iPhones won't work with MC.  You might consider an Android.

You guys are not going to fix this lock problem which is always there every release  ?

And which android player supports flac or ape that you guys also support.

I made a big mistake in buying the Archos5 IT. It plays on android 1.6 and Archos abandoned the model. No further updates and it's the biggest waist of money, ever.

As long as you have access to the Android Market place there's a number of media players that will play both Flac or Ape natively, or there's JRiver Gizmo if you want to stream audio.

JimH, I mean the fact that Apple locks the iPod for anything else but iTunes. I assume you will try to fix that ?

And I have enough of the wonderful brand Apple. Bought a Cowon X7 with 160GB. It supports ape, flac and ogg vorbis. From the reviews it's clear that the audio quality of Cowon is the best. What else do I want besides an ever bigger disk. I know that the biggest disk in this size of pmp is 240GB.

When I have it I will check the compatibility with MC16 .....

They can't.  Apple has made it cost prohibitive to do so.  It's not a case of fixing it, as it's not broken.  Apple has locked JRiver and everyone else out.
The best way to make Apple listen is to stop buying their kit, which is a shame as they make nice kit.
