I recently bought 7.2 and want to transfer it to my laptop. I've copied the .rrg file to floppy and downloaded a free version of 7.2 onto the laptop. However, the restore licence function (under tools) does not work on the .rrg file or the free version. What am I doing wrong?
-
you may need to give them any message you might see on your system for more help.
maybe you might also think about upgrading to MJ8 since it is a free upgrade for you.

What is the name of the file?
You can try downloading version 8, from a thread here. It may restore the 7.2 license.

Thanks for your suggestions. Don't seem able to download version 8 so decided to start over again and pay for a second licence for the laptop. Have downloaded version 7 again but now the purchase button and the restore licence button don't work. I give up. Can anyone suggest another program?
-
King's link above works for downloading 8.0. Try using IE to download.

not as good as MJ.
What Browser Are You Using?
Internet Explorer Works When Downloading.

Have now downloaded version 8 using internet explorer but the purchase and restore licence functions still do not work.
As regards error the dialogue box says this program has performed an illegal error and will be shut down. There is no error code or other information.
-
go to help, and about
and give the full version number.
did the purchase or restore option take you to an html page? in version 8 it should have.
-
> but the purchase and restore licence functions still do not work.
Very strange. I'm not at all sure.
A few things come to mind. One is the credit card itself. Sounds from "dialogue" like it could be European. We've had problems in the past that could be related to the approval process from CyberCash.
The other is the version of Flash you use. That should not be in use in the purchase process, but there may be some remnant left. Visiting this site with IE, can you see pictures moving?

What version of IE do you have?
One last possibility is your local network. Proxy server or firewall problems. We've seen problems with some versions of both Norton and Zonealarm.
It might help if you will paste your system info here. Visit MJ/Help/System Info and do a copy, then paste it here.
What is the name of the license file?

Found a link to version 8 and have now purchased that for laptop. However, I can't use the program because of error messages. Here is an example: This program has performed an illegal operation and will be closed down. If the problem persists consult the program vendor. Under details it says: MJ caused an invalid page fault in module at 000:760e1470. There are then five or six lines of figures.
This type of message also appears on my desktop PC.
The system info from the desktop which runs MJ7.2 follows:

MediaJukebox7.rrg is the correct name of the license.

On the laptop, try a reboot, then a reinstall, then a reboot.

Hi phill,
It sounds to me like something else on your computer is causing problems. All the "illegal operations" you mention in this and another thread make me think that something else (besides MJ) is going on. How long has the OS been installed? What other apps do you have? Do you run anything downloaded from the Internet?

Does this occur right when you start Media Jukebox?
