Title: How do you assign files?
Post by: yellowp38 on August 30, 2011, 05:45:29 pm
I imported an mp3 file I recorded using Audacity.  I named the artist and album Richard.

I find artist Richard at the bottom of all the alphabetically listed artists. When I find  it in "Richard" there is a notation that it is unassigned.  I thought I took care of that when I edited the tag.

How do I assign a file and what do I assign it to?

Can you be more specific by what you mean as "Assigned"

Is it not showing up in audio?
If so, you can edit the tag - look for "Media Type" and put in "Audio". That will assign it to Audio.

If that's not what you mean by assign, please be more specific

Hmmm...

Are you sure you didn't tag [Album artist] as Richard instead of [Artist]? Or vice-versa? Are you sure you're looking at a list sorted by [artist] and not [album artist] or vice-versa?

It would be easier to explain if this thing would let me copy and paste into the message box.

The end of the alphabetical list of artists in the left pane includes:

yardbirds
yellow jackets
yes
zombies
ZZ top
var
richard
      unassigned

How do I get artist = richard to fit in the alphabetical list of artists between

rhonda vincent
richard and mimi farina

As I said both the artist and album are named richard.  I don't see a line for album/artist in the tag pane.

In the upper left of the tag panel there is a drop down button.
Choose "show all tags"
Check if "Alum artist" is populated
