Title: media center as the default media viewer

How do I change the settings so that Media Center is not my default media viewer. My email attachments are taged as media center files. I need to open them in other programs. How do I change the settings so they are not auromatcally taged

It's called File Associations.  In MC, go to Tools/Options/File Types, where you can turn them off.   Turn them on in any other program you like.  Or in Windows.
