Well, with the new version 16.0.168 I always get the message "Something went wrong with playback" if I want to play a DVD video or a TV channel on a client (on the server it works without flaws) :(
MKV movies play just fine
I use Red October Standard and even uninstalled CCCP - to no avail
Who knows where I need to change which setting?
thanks

What happens if you rip a DVD on the client? Will it play then?

JimH,
I have no DVD drives on the client computers and therefore never did a DVD rip on one of them. I don't assume that it is a network problem (all cabled gigabit network throughout the house), everything connects just fine, although there is that nagging problem with the wrong Info and List panels in Theater View (but that is obviously another problem).
I can find an external DVD drive to test-rip a DVD on a client if you want me to.
Please let me know what to do
thanks

bump ?

Well, guys, please be so nice to tell me what we have to install or do to make it work on the clients too!
The clients are all the same installation, standard Windows 7 64-bit SP1 (clean install) with MC 16.0.168 standard.
MC 16 is set to Red October Standard (which works fine on the server and therefore in the home theater).
Nothing addionally installed.
On the clients DVD and TV playback fails, MKV movies work fine (after they downloaded some needed components the first time)
Please tell us what to do to make it work!!
thanks

I cannot directly tell you the fix. But I recommend that you goto the Help Menu in MC16 and turn on logging. Specifically "playback" logging and turn off the other logging items.
Run the install of MC16 that works, note the logging messages. Then goto the install of MC16 that does not work and try again and look at the logged messages there. Compare the two and post your results here for further troubleshooting.

I'm getting this error too with DVD rips. I hardly ever watch this filetype, but it's not working for me with RO of any kind.
