Title: Gizmo-like client for Windows?
Post by: ansky on September 25, 2011, 10:36:26 am
I hope this is the right forum for this... I have a few family members (at college or living elsewhere) I'd like to share my library with, and while I'm not the most tech savvy users, these folks make me look like a guru...  Is there a "widget" (right term?) that runs on Windows that is similar to the Android Gizmo app?  I don't think they could really use (or need) the full Media Center (or the lite version), but the like having access to my music.  Right now I set up Subsonic, but it doesn't use the library and it's a bit clumsy and slow as well.

Any alternatives out there?   Thanks!!!

MC's Webplay uses a browser to play media from MC.  Start at Media Network on our wiki.

Thanks... I had looked there before posting but it sounded like it was for Android and iPhone/iPad...  Undaunted, I clicked the WebPlay link on the wiki, and got the following (I use Chrome):

Oops! Google Chrome could not connect to wiki.jrmediacenter.com
Try reloading: wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/WebPlay

Could never reach it... however, I figured out that I needed to port forward 52199...

This looks like a good option.  Thanks again.

I think that I've fixed the link you were using.  Please try again.

Try turning on Media Network on your PC and then use a browser on the same PC to connect by entering:

http://localhost:52199
