I downloaded an audio file off the internet (from Sonata). Although I did not even specify that it should go to J River, for some reason J River imported every one of my 100+ GB of picture files.
How do I get rid of those files, which obviously are unwanted in an Audio playback application?
This is not the first time that JRiver has done this. How do I prevent this from happening in the future?

In Tools > Import > Auto Import you can find the folders monitored by MC.
Remove any folder you don't like
-
JRiver Did not do it, Media Center Did it.
I think the default on the settings is for Media Center to Import Images, I Always Turn That Off.
If you turn this option Off in the import settings, and select the files, and hit delete you will then have a option to remove them from media center, or delete them from the system.

It might be safer to clear the library (File/Library) and import whatever you want.
-
What puzzles me is that I have never had the Import Images setting checked. I only have Import Audio checked.

The odd thing about computers is that they do exactly what they are told to do.
-
Yes, they do exactly what they are told to do. However, if there is a bug in the intructions or if the instructions overlook something, then you haven't instructed the computer properly.
So, I still don't know why images get imported when the import images box is not checked.

MC won't import images if you don't want it to. Check your auto-import settings.
If you just allow the defaults, MC will import images, but that is your choice.
As I said, clearing your library and starting over would be the easiest way to proceed.
