Hi,
I have the last stable version of J River Media Center (16.0.179) and i encounter a problem : I can't view with DLNA feature my HD movies stored on my server ; there are significant delays.
I have a debit of 40MB/s, so it is not the problem. I have no problems also with the media center XBMC.
I think this is a bug with J River Media Center and caching of movies with DLNA.
Best Regards.

Hi,
Are you trying to view the movies in Media Center as a client using an external DLNA server or using Media Center as a server and viewing them on some other rendering device?

Hi,
I am trying to view the movies in Media Center as a client using an external DLNA server (minidlna).
Best Regards.

So, XBMC as a client on the same PC plays them OK but MC as a client does not?
A good test might be to download the video to your PC and then try to play it locally with MC. If it doesn't work, it could be that your playback settings in MC might need changing.

Exactly.

I already do that, and there is no problem ;)
Best Regards.

What kind of server? What's it running for DLNA?
-
Hi,
I use a personal server that I have assembled. It runs under Debian 6 (Squeeze).
I use minidlna as DLNA server.
Best Regards.

It's possible the server doesn't like our method of requesting the file. Some DLNA renderers request the whole file, others do partial content (multiple requests). Ours does multiple requests. It's more efficient for the way we do seeking but does have somewhat more overhead than just opening a file and streaming the whole thing.

Hi,
Ok. I will try this week-end with a SAMBA share to see :)
Best Regards.

Hi,
I tested with SAMBA and I have no delays. It was therefore a problem with DLNA.
Best Regards.
