MJ7 is what I've been searching for: the perfect all-in-one mm solution. I can rip cda files from CDs, turn them into MP3s and they play perfectly. However, when attempting to play regular commericial (old pre-copy protect) audio CDs on my Sony DVD/CD-ROM drive (is a compatible drive) the music hiccups and very mildly stutters. This is not a problem with other jukebox and cd players (musicmatch, real, windows media player, etc.)
I love MJ7 and want to commit to it as my default for all media, but I'm stuck with this jittery playback of CDs both in digital and analog modes. Also the gap between songs takes longer than musicmatch and other jukeboxes during which time the cursor is frozen for a bit.
I'm using a Dell Dimension 550 MHz Pentium 3 with a Sony CD-ROM/DVD drive and a Toshiba CD-RW drive running with Windows 98SE. Is my system underpowered for playing standard commercial music CDs on Media Jukebox 7?
I have no other programs running when I try to play CDs. Help? I want my MJ7~!
All replies are appreciated. - cigggieoxo

Do you have a Creative sound card? If so, check the recent thread on soundblasters.

Whoops~! I thought no other programs were running but the McAfee antivirus was hogging CPU time thus causing the CD playback stutter, lack of responsiveness and poor quality. I had tried using the slider to make MJ7 less skip resistant but that was not a factor. Analog and digital setting was not a factor. Just the junky McAfee program pushing its weight around and grinding all else to a halt. Now I must go pay my money to JRiver and become a die hard Media Jukebox fanatic ::grin::
