Hi Guys,
Since one of the later versions of 16 (and now in v17.20) I've been experiencing a weird problem when attempting to record TV.
If I'm watching TV and choose to record the program (or a prescheduled recording starts on the channel I'm watching), the video freezes (audio continues).
It records (because I can go into Shows and then watch it AFTER I've stopped recording), just cannot watch it WHILE it's recording.
HOWEVER
If I activate recording in standard view, THEN go to watch the program, things are fine.
Similarly, all scheduled recordings play back fine.
This happens with both jtv and ts recording.
Using RO Std, transparency turned off, latest Tuner card drivers available.
Any idea what might be causing this?
Cheers,
J.
-
Do you watch TV in Standard View or Theater View?
-
Thanks Yaobing.
Theatre view.
I can replicate and send logs if you like?
-
Yes, please send a log as I do not see the same issue on my computer.
-
Have emailed the logs, and here is the filter / graph info

The current log should also demonstrate another problem I'm having whereby audio is sometimes not started when I start watching TV. Have to stop and restart it to get audio.
Thanks again Yaobing.

Hi Yaobing,
Any word on this?
Cheers,
J.
-
Sorry, I have not gotten to it yet.
-
No need to apologise - I aappreciate you're a busy man ;D

I experienced the same issue today, kids were watching live TV and the program they were watching started to be recorded.
The OSD came up with "Recording" and the picture froze but sound continued.
I stopped playback and tried to play TV again and I then got a black screen with sound only.
This was on MC17.22
Didn't get a log I'm afraid.

Sometimes it's good to know you're not alone :)

Same problem here (DVB-T in Australia) but, in addition, the channel being recorded is not the original channel being watched (but both on the same overall network).
If for example ABC 1 is being watched (and supposedly being recorded), another ABC channel (News 24) is actually being recorded. This can only be seen when playing back the recording.
I record programs on Windows Media Center at the moment, so I have only done a few quick tests using JRiver (which I happily use for everything else except recording TV). Each time a different channel to that being watched, on the same network, is recorded.
-
Do you all record in ts format? Do you see the same problem when recoding in jtv format?
-
I only use jtv format.
-
Yes, ts format.
Switching to jtv fixes the wrong channel problem but not the freezing problem.
-
This is happening both in jtv and ts formats for me.
-
This is still happening in the new version. Also, when i go into "Shows" and watch it, I can now watch it (after a couple of seconds of sound but no picture) but the picture has this white flickering going on... Could this be codec related possibly?
-
Flickering problem was interlacing but the recording issue is STILL happening in 17.31.

Build 38 is out. Please try it and see if there is any improvement. I made a small change but did not put it in history of changes because I was not sure if it would fix anything.

Hi Yaobing,
Looks like it has been solved, however am still having this problem...
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=68042.0
Basically, after fast forwarding or rewinding, the video stutters for a few seconds (sometimes up to approx. 40 seconds) but the audio plays as normal. End result is the sound is ahead of the video, sometimes by quite some way.
