Running MC17 in VMWare Fusion under OSX.
My file paths are all \\vmware-host\Shared Folder\...
MC16 is working fine, but MC17 can't see any files. They all show up with the red x and locate disk external results in 'the file ... does not exist'.
If I try to manually add a file, I can browse out to the '\\vmware-host\' folders but when choosing a file I get 'Something went wrong with playback. Details: The file could not be found. Check that the filename in the library matches the filename on disk.'

Did you try mapping that path as a network drive?

Did you try mapping that path as a network drive?
Is UNC broken in MC17? I really don't like using mapped drives, since they only exist on a user by user basis. I switched to UNC paths due to issues with mapped drive letters, but it has been so long I can't remember exactly what those were.

UNC is working fine for me in MC17

Could you email a log to matt at jriver dot com after you try playing a UNC path it can't find?
Thanks.

Email sent.

Tried opening one of the files using a mapped drive - got the same error. Seems it is not related to UNC vs mapped drives.

A little more info in case it helps:
Running OSX Lion on the host machine. Running VMWare Fusion 4.0.2.
All files are on a drive connected to the Host machine and accessed via the VMWare Fusion shared folders.
I am using the shared folders, so I don't think SMB is in the mix but: Apple used Samba with Snow Leopard and prior for SMB sharing, but removed Samba from Lion in favor of their own version of SMB support (due to Samba licensing requirements/issues). I don't use the built in SMB functionality (I could never get it to work properly with most of my stuff), and instead have Samba 3 installed in Lion.

Not sure if one of these was in the log I sent, but I am also getting messages like this in the logs:
0005288: 2052: General: CFileSystemManager::GetDriveExists: Drive does not exist (drive: \\vmware-host, filename: \\vmware-host\Shared Folders\Videos\TV Shows\Firefly (2002)\Season 00\*.*)

In 17.0.22 and later I added more logging.
Please send me another log once you get a chance to try a newer build and we'll go from there.
Thanks.

I think this should be fixed in 17.0.24 (and newer).
Thanks for all your help.

Just want to confirm that .26 (first I've had a chance to try since .22) is working fine with the vmware shared folders file now. Thanks.

Thanks again for all your help on this one.
