Title: Media Center can't play .ts files?
Post by: aknuds1 on November 20, 2011, 01:49:38 pm
Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was unable to find anything by searching. Media Center is unable to play .ts files for me, is the format simply not supported?

Strange. These particular files play back just fine in Media Center Classic, whereas JRiver won't have them.

TS is fine (it is even used as one container optoin for DTV Recodings my MC).  You are going to have to post more details such as:
- TS File Details (what does it say in the "Compression" field for these files (or what does the prog MediaInfo say)
- Are you using RO Std, HQ or have you tweaked the settings?
- What is the error msg

Worst comes to worst you may need to post a bit of the file (just just a bit off with a prog like "Free-File-Splitter-v5.0.1189")

* MPC says it is MPEG2 video and AC3 audio
* I am using Red October standard
* The error dialog when I try to open the file in JRiver says "The media types of the selected files are not supported for playback. (<none>)"

I got your messages about it sometimes playing and somtime not.  Odd.  I'm presuming the following settings in MC --> Tools --> Options --> Video for now
- Red OCtover Std
- HW Accel is OFF
- Bitstreaming is None

...and that under Tools --> Options --> File Types the settings for MPEG Transport Video (m2t, to, ts trp) is set to "Yes" and "Automatic"

You could try to delete the following folders (which will force MC to redownload the filters it uses) in "C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\J River\Media Center 17\Plugins"
- ffdshow
- lav

You can enable logging in MC --> Help --> Logging --> CHECK "Output to Log File" and post the log here (make sure you close and start MC from scratch, then try to play the file, then grab the log).
