I'm looking for a simple to solution to the scenario when a family member with a Harmony/MCE remote gets to the HTPC and finds that JRiver has been minimized or is sitting in the "standard" view. I envision a 3rd party program that runs on startup and can:
1. Start JRiver (or any other app?)
2. Put it into focus.
3. Maximize it.
4. Ctrl-4 it so that JRiver enters the theater mode.
5. Have some minimal level of GUI interaction?
Any recommedations? Thanks....

Try running Media Server on Windows Start. Tools/Options/Startup.

Thanks for the reply, but how does that address points 2-4 above? Is there a specific command that the server responds to in order to maximize it or enter theater mode?
EDIT: I can modify the registry to allow for one of the extra buttons on the remote to issue the ctrl-4 command, but I would still need something to bring JRiver into focus first I think.
EDIT2: Huh, it works! Thanks.

Glad you have it sorted. I have a button on my remote set to f11 - toggle view. I find it more useful because I can toggle the other way too ie. Theater View->Standard View.
Now I just need a small jpeg of the jriver logo to put on the harmony remote screen because at the moment it had WMC on it! Yuk!
