Title: pronto philips 9800 to control j river

I have a philips pronto 9800.  Can I use it to control jriver and how do I do it

Can it control Windows Media Center?  If so, it will work with MC.  See "Media Center Remote" on our wiki for more information.

Do I need to buy the remote?  My PC has IR receiver and the remote can control windows media center

No.  You don't need to buy anything else.

Right now, the commands probably go to WMC, but MC can disable that.  Check under Theater View options.

Run Media Server at Windows startup.  It's under Tools/Options/Start.
