Title: Do changes made to standard views on Clients Sync back to server?
Post by: HTPC4ME on November 25, 2011, 01:13:13 am
thought i'd give it a try tonight, but its been about 20 minutes and i'm not seeing any added views on server.
Can clients make changes if connect to servers?

Also i forgot how to move items in the tree once you make them? I made a new view called ratings by artist's, And it was way down in the list of the audio type tree, So i tried right clicking it, and moving it up Ratings by keywords.

Can we move library names(Views) around? or default it to show them all alphabetically?

Thanks Guys.

I don't really use it but check these options:

Tools --> Media Network --> Client Options --> Automatically sync changes amde on client back to the server is checked.  I also think you need to have Authentication on.

thanks for reply jmone, those are enabled.
I ve tested tagging of files those work, But curious about the views, one would think those could be added as well if one is connected to the server?

No.  It is limited in some ways.

You can't add or change Standard Views.
You can't add or change Theater Views.
You can't delete playlists.  You can modify and add new "static" playlists, but I'm not sure about Smartlists (they'd probably fall under Views).
You can't use Auto-Import on the clients (makes more sense to do it on the server anyway).
