Title: Media Center 16 won't rip cd's
Post by: arduous on November 29, 2011, 01:27:03 pm
I've had a few problems since i upgraded.  The lastest on is a message I get when I try to rip a CD.  It reads "Read track failed. Failed to initialize the encoder plug in".  Is this a seperate plug in I need to down load?

Thanks, Bill

What format are you using to encode?  Normally you don't need to download anything.

Ah, that was it.  I had it set to MP3 but didn't have that encoder.  I put it back to APE.  I had switched it to MP3 to burn Cd's.  Do you know what encoder I should use to convert wav files to be burned to CD?  I'm mixing down my own songs and would like them to play on most CD players.

Thanks, Bill

When you burn an audio CD, you don't need an encoder.

When you choose "Audio CD" it's cd audio (44.1khz 16 bit  2 channel PCM).
