Title: Port Forwarding Question on MC17 with WRT54GX2 Router
Post by: stocksja on December 01, 2011, 01:11:53 am
Hey Guys,

I keep getting an error claiming that my port is not properly forwarded.  I can access the media over my wireless network on my phone so obviously this is a router issue.  I cut off my firewall while I was messing with this, so the firewall is not blocking the connection.  I know this isn't a router forum but does anyone see anything glaringly obvious that I have done?  I posted links to pictures of the port forwarding page, ipconfig, the router settings, the computer TCP/IP settings, error from MC 17, and MC 17 settings to make this easier.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

From what I can see your port forwarding is correct on your router.  I am not sure how you connect to the internet (cable, dsl, etc), but I would check to make sure you don't need to setup port forwarding in your cable modem or DSL modem, as well.  I had to set this up also.  Use the same port as in the router (52199), but you need to set it to forward to your router's external IP address (not 192.168.1.xxx).

I hope this helps,

Alex

Thanks Alex.  It's a DSL Modem.  That has to be it.  I knew there was something easy I was missing.  I'll try that when I get home.  Thanks again.

That did the trick.  I didn't have the port forwarded in the DSL Modem.  Once I did that I was able to connect.  Thanks for the quick response Alex.  I really appreciate it.
