Title: SONY BDV player won't play .divx file sent by MC
Post by: dlxneamtu on December 01, 2011, 07:04:53 am
Hi all,

In my efforts to get my Sony BDV880 player run subtitles I encoded them in the video file using AviAddSubs. Th eresult file was a .divx one that played nicely on my local player with subtitles encoded. Still, Sony gives an error when I try to push this file from MC, like unssuported format.

Can you help me understand what options I need to set in MC, I am sure it can transcode this type of file. I tried tools-options-file types-divx video playback method using DirectShow filters but no luck.

Thanks,
Dan

Solved with always transcoding option
And if you are pulling from the player and you don't always want to transcode, you can create a second server, call it something like "Generic, no transcode" and turn off transcoding. Use that server when you want to play stuff that you know will play without transcoding.
