Title: How to repack to mkv?
Post by: broherpete on December 06, 2011, 12:40:58 pm
I'm using Media Center 16.

I've been ripping a few DVD's Blu-Ray discs.

How to repack every rip into one single mkv file?

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

I have used MakeMKV (http://www.makemkv.com/) (doesn't re-encode) and Handbrake (http://handbrake.fr/) (re-encodes video in order to create smaller files, but can preserve the AC-3 and/or DTS audio streams as they are if that is preferred).

You can't do MKV muxing in Media Center.  We recommend just ripping DVD to a VIDEO_TS folder.

If you want MKV, Alex's advice is good.

thank you!   Is MKV-muxing something that's being worked on for MC17?
