Title: DTS ACS MP3

Can someone please explain to us why our ears prefer MP3 sound in Movies than DTS or DOLBY.

Our setup is SPDIF to our Receiver Kenwood KRF-V5100D

When playing DTS the volume has to be at sometimes -0 DB yet we play MP3 movies at 23 db and that blows us out the window.

You are bitstreaming DTS and Dolby, and sending 2-channel PCM for your MP3 files.

In essence, DTS and Dolby are sent at 100% volume to your receiver (you cannot change this), while MP3's are sent at the volume set in MC. The gain on your mp3s is likely set lower than baseline because they have been analyzed and normalized (replay-gained).

Did you have a look at settings in the Kenwood ? Maybe you can make individual settings in there. Some for stereo signals and others for surround sound.
