Title: Correct setting for FLAC 44KHz 16 bit over network
Post by: yoyoc on December 13, 2011, 09:02:06 am
I have my JR Media Center acting as media Server on my WHS 2011.

My network includes a Logitech Revue DLNA device which is compatible with FLAC, only 16 bit 44KHz, plus MP3.

FLAC is my preferred type especially for my HD tracks downloads.

I have set up my MC server as I believe would be compatible, to no avail.

My settings include, DLNA server, DLNA Extra, convert not compatible files to MP3 medium, set bit rate to 44,100.

Anybody knows which would be the best to try.

Thanks.

In the DLNA profile Audio section, choose 'L16 - no header'. Then your Revue box should receive the flac content at full bitrate. it will be around 800-1.200Kbps.

mbagge,

Would this "L16 - No Header" benefit me as well with my WDTV Live question (in that other thread). I currently have my Audio Encoder Profile set to just "Uncompressed"...not "Uncompressed L16 No Header".

Here are my DLNA profile settings currently for use with the WDTV Live...

Audio: Conversion - Always Convert
Audio: Encoder: Uncompressed
Audio: Advanced: Volume Leveling - On
Audio: Advanced: Sample Rate - Same as Source

Look forward to any comments. The volume leveling is now working great BTW.

Cheers,

VP

@vocalpoint
I think you got it right. You have volume levelling and that option is only selectable if you 'always convert'. MC has to do transcoding of the audio stream to calculate the new volume setting.
My goal was to keep the audio stream as untouched as possible from the CD till it got converted to analog by the DAC in the receiver. MC will just have to stream the file over the network in this case.
But you got me thinking, it actually is a nice feature you got working.

@yoyoc
I'm glad you got it working and sorry for hijacking your thread  ;).
