I have an old MPEG-1/2 mpgv video file which won't play in MC (nor does it play in either Windows Media Center or Media Player Classic). I can play it on my Mac w/VLC and MPEG Streamclip (Quicktime fails playback).
Should MC be able to play this file?

If you can provide a sample, i could give it a shot see whats wrong with it.

Let me know when you have it.
Thanks.

I got it.

It looks like the first 2MB of the file are corrupted, which makes the detection of the file type fail, because the maximum probe size is set to 1MB.
Increasing the maximum probe size to 4MB makes it load the file, and should have no speed impact on identifying "proper" files.
You can expect this to work in future versions of LAV Splitter, and when MC17 updates it.

Ah, that explains some of the error messages.
This came from a Matchbox Twenty "Mad Season" Enhanced CD disc, which used the old HyperCD junk. It contains is a single content file (the one I sent), and it would seem then that the file was corrupt at press time. I've compared the file byte-for-byte on a couple of reads from two different drives, all the same.
Thanks much. I'll watch for the update.

Thanks. This is resolved in 17.0.59 w/LAV 0.43.
