I'm considering going to large FLAC/APE files + CUE for my library. I've seen some traffic in the forums on this, but cannot find clear answers to the following questions:
- can I import by drag and drop? If so, how?
- when I attempt to use the Library Tools>Rename.... command, MC shows individual track files and the new file path but nothing actually gets moved in Windows
- does this format work over DLNA?
Thanks in advance.

anyone?

not helping...
But why would you want to do that? I have seen this done before but have always expanded them back to individual files as I have not understood the advantages. Would love to understand the rationale...
Thanks

Craig,
I've done exactly that over the years too....individual files. But, this past summer I got my house set up on DLNA; it seems that this forces there to be a ~0.5 sec gap between tracks.... OK for many albums, but that gap is a real bummer if your playing Alan Parsons or Creedance (or many others) where the original tracks (and the very fine tunes) are gapless.
I'm open to all ideas. Thanks. Steve

There are a few cases where file+cue sheet might be beneficial.
If your media player doesn’t support gapless playback, this is the trick to get it.
As there is no tagging standard for WAV, this is the trick to make the tags portable.
In practice I do think file + cue a bit clumsy.
You have 2 files and see to it that they are in the same dir.
In general both the file and the cue (the tracks) are displayed in the interface.
You can’t tag at track level (single file)
The “tags” in the CUE standard are limited.
I doubt if MC update CUE-sheets
Etc.

Vincent,
agree with all your points. Thanks for the really helpful reference.
Does anyone know if it is possible to have gapless playback across DLNA?
