Title: cannot rip or play CDs

Hi all
I have a new server which all is working well on apart from the DVD-rom. The device is recognised in the device manager etc but its as if it doesn't know what a CD is. It wont play in media player or windows, so I cannot rip any CDs as it doesnt think there is anything there to rip/play.

 
I have tried messing around wit the auto play settings but that didnt help and if I try to update drivers it insists the drivers are correct.
 

Any ideas anyone ?

A bad drive?  Try swapping it if you have another drive.

not the drive,  its the second internal and i tried a USB external too. Same problem.  When u explore the drive all it shows is small JRiver icon and track number. double clicking or playing just gives the error ' nothing to play '   Actually ive just noticed these files are only 44bytes.  Sounds like a fundamental windows problem to me.
