Title: Request: Please add 'series' to media sub type database field
Post by: globetrotters1 on January 12, 2012, 09:53:59 am
A minor request:

As I cannot change the standard database library field contents of 'Media Sub Type' please be so kind and add 'Series' to the list of possible values

I just find it very strange (and misleading!) that the value 'TV Show' translates in Theater View to 'Series'

thanks

bump

Or could you please open up the media sub type field, so that someone can put her/his own structure???

Can someone of the developers please tell me why you blocked that database field?

thanks

With the Carnac implementation there is things that would break if some of this field was modified. It's been asked many times if we could be allowed to at least ADD other types here, but there have been little response. I would prefer to use the word Series over TV Shows my self, but I have bitten the dust and moved on. I'm using TV Shows today.

You could of course use custom fields and add Series to that. Using Auto import rules this could be set as you want it. But you would loose some of the standard views in theater view, and there would be some functionality missing. Like the watch vs Play and a few others.

You'll have to use 'TV Show'.

Otherwise all the default views and handling inside the program won't work properly.  This is exactly why the list is limited: so handling specific to television (or whatever media subtype) can engage for those files.
