just upgraded to MC17.0.46 when trying to play 96kh 24bit 2ch wav file. Soundcard is a Lynx AES16e.
error message: something went wrong with playback. PLayback could not be started on the output WASAPI - event style using the format 96kHz 24 bit 2ch. This output format may not be supported by your hardware.
The same file plays fine using ASIO.
WASAPI - Event style is working fine playing 44k 16 bit wav files.
Any thoughts? I upgraded to MC17 in order to use WASAPI Event Style with hi res files. this is a bit of a bummer...

As far as I know, using discrete sound cards with ASIO allows for automatic sample rate switching.
This is not the case when using WASAPI.
You have to configure the sound card manually to accept e.g. 24/96

Try toggling the option "Present 24-bit data in a 32-bit package".
On some hardware its required, on some hardware its required to be off, so try both.

Thanks nevcariel. I tried toggling the Present 24 bit data in a 32 bit package option, but I get the same failure, with this setting toggled on or off
