Title: When Media Center can't open a web browser [HELP NEEDED]
Post by: Matt on January 16, 2012, 04:18:08 pm
Every once in a while we get a report from a user that Media Center is unable to open a web browser to show a webpage.  This affects help, purchasing, and any other area of the program that uses web content.

My guess is that something is a little corrupt in the registry on machines where this happens.  Maybe a browser was uninstalled, leaving something messy on the system?

I've never been able to reproduce it, and haven't gotten good technical details.

So could you run Media Center, then do Help > Contents and see if your favorite web browser pops up?

If not, let us know and we'll work together to make Media Center handle systems in this state.

Thanks.

Works for me.  No help, of course, but bumps the thread...

I've got this report showing. Not a "problem" for me right now but my recollection is that MC17 says that it's looking for a plugin.

When I get home, I'll confirm and post a follow up.

Matt - I just tried it on 4 different computers and each time it opened your Wiki in Firefox (our default browser). Two of the computers are XP and 2 are Win7. One's a laptop and the others are quite different from each other.
